Call Peter on 0412 360 112
A very special thank you to Peter of Power Up Electrical for installing the new lighting in the Scout Hall Kitchen and installing our oven. While he was there Peter also made safe the existing lighting outside and repaired some fairly ordinary power points wiring that were damaged by vermin.
The new fluorescent lights were donated by Peter’s business and he freely gave his time and other materials for the benefit of the Scout Group.
Please thank Peter by considering using his services when you next have electrical work in your homes and businesses. His number is 0412 360 112 and 4977 2994. By him giving his time we were able to leave those allocated funds for the youth members of each section and reduce the overall cost of installing the kitchen.
Thank you very much Peter. We appreciate your support.

Rathmines Joey’s enjoyed a trip to Charlestown Scout group on Monday 17th May to enjoy an adventure of Rock wall climbing and Caving Joey style…… this is through cardboard boxes taped together with hidden treasure inside. The kids all enjoyed themselves and added a tick in there little blue books towards their Mob Buddy Badges. Thanks Steve and the Leaders for a great night!

Toronto Leaders running "The Human Cannonball".
Seven scouts from both Rathmines and Wangi scout groups joined nine other patrols at the first inaugural “Lake Macquarie City District Camp” held at Camp Kanangra near Nords Wharf. With eight bases set up by groups such as Cardiff, Toronto, Belmont to name a few about a hundred scouts came from far and wide to challenge their communication, leadership, camp craft and problem solving skills.
As a leader on the Toronto / Rathmines base I must say I was impressed with the caliber of youth we have here attending scouts at Lake Macquarie. They are a credit to their communities and many a leader should feel proud, as should the scouts just how well they worked as patrols. If this is an indicator of the talent then the Rally coming up is going to be very competitive.
Scouts had to build small fires, perform, hoist their friends along traverses, aim extinguishers and problem solve crossings just to list a few of the activities on offer. For me personally the highlight of the weekend was three fold. Meeting the other Lake Macquarie leaders around the campfire the night before, waking beside the water to bell birds and seeing all the scouts having fun. Having Rathmines and Wangi Scouts take out the trophy was just icing on what was already an excellent weekend.
Thanks for all the scouts who could make it. The organisers and the parents who dropped and picked up kids over to Kanangra and of course 1st Toronto for letting Rathmines pitch in with their base.

Albert Cullen is the eldest living Australian Scout. We had the great pleasure of escorting Albert or “Bert” to our Anzac Ceremony held at Wangi Wangi RSL yesterday. Bert was thrilled to participate and received a roar of clapping when he was announced to place a floral arrangement on the memorial on behalf of the 1st Rathmines Scout Group & Wangi Scout Group.Bert enjoyed sharing his stories with the children and also the sailors from HMAS Tobruk. One of the highlights of Berts day was listening to the Scottish Bagpipe band. Thank you Bert for a lovely day.
